Guida di Ischia
Ischia is one of the pearls of Campania, plunged into the Gulf of Naples; this island is the most densely-populated of the Tyrrhenian Sea after Sicily and Sardinia.
Visiting Ischia means plunging into a territory rich in history and in extraordinary natural landscapes.
Ischia is also one of the favourite destinations for those who love fun as well as relax. The nights in the island are among the most dynamic of all the region; nightclubs, discos and bars are open throughout the region and they are the meeting places preferred by young people.
Among the best known and certainly more typical tourist resorts of the island there are:
MONTE EPOMEO
It is the highest peak of the island, the mountain is almost 800 meters high. Its name, which seems to derive from the Greek Epopon, means "I watch" and accurately describes the enchanting view you can enjoy from the mountain: as a matter of fact you can admire the whole island with all its beauties from its top.
On the peak you can also visit the Church and the Hermitage of San Nicola, typical and picturesque buildings carved into the tuff.

THE ARAGONESE CASTLE
The Castle is on a very little volcanogenic island, linked to Ischia through a cement bridge approximately 200 meters long. The castle was built by order of Gerone, dictator of Siracusa, in 474 b.C.. The Castle doesn’t keep its original structure as it has been transformed by the different rules over the years. Near the Castle, there are the Church of the Immaculate, The Nunnery of the Clarisse, the Maschio, the Abbey, the political Prison and many other fascinating monuments, most of which are still open to visits.

THE THERMAL BATHS OF ISCHIA
The island is rich in thermal springs. Wellness centres and spas are scattered all over the island, especially in one of the six towns in which it is divided: Casamicciola Terme. In this town there are the most famous spas of all the island, including the one of Gurgitiello, known since ancient times, and Piazza Bagni in which there are several historic spas.
The composition of the thermal waters of Ischia makes them suitable for the treatment of many pathologies such as rheumatic and joints diseases, skin and respiratory pathologies.

CITARA BEACH
Located in the town of Forio, the beach owes its name to the goddess of beauty, Venus Citera.
As a matter of fact the beach is one of the most beautiful in the Mediterranean, it is permanently exposed to the sun and its waters are among the most crystal clear of the island.
On the Beach there is one of the most famous spas of Europe, the Giardini Poseidon Thermal Park, with its twenty-two thermal water pools.
MARONTI BEACH
Also this beach is located in the town of Forio, it is the biggest beach of Ischia.
A long stretch of sand, where you can enjoy a crystal clear sea and play various water sports, including windsurfing, diving, sailing trips, etc. There are several bathing establishments on the beach.

THE VILLAGE OF SANT'ANGELO
The village is one of the most interesting places of the island.
Old suburb peopled by fishermen, today is a relaxing pedestrian precinct, in which you can admire the extraordinary contrast between the ancient houses of the old seafaring town, and the modern hotel accommodation facilities.
PITHECUSAE ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
IThe Sea Museum, is housed inside the Complex of Villa Arbusto, in the town of Lacco Ameno. The museum houses finds belonging to the various civilizations that lived in the island, including Greek and Roman finds: bowls, blades, pottery, statues and many other historical evidences of the culture of the island.
